In many European countries, like the Netherlands, UK and Germany, typically you pay per kWh. Some providers may also charge a transaction fee, but when charging on the Shell Recharge operated network the UK you will not be charged a transaction fee, regardless of your payment method.

 
In charge per minute countries, like France, you also get charged for the time you are charging and in Germany you may have to pay a blocking fee if you stay longer than the "free" period. In the UK, a blocking fee is applicable on the charge points operated by Source, London.
